The 3-year course tests the students on the basics of Orthodontics before commencing the pre-clinical training. They are given an extensive 6-month training on wire bending and typodont exercises. Academically, it is mandatory for the students to make 15 seminars, 15 journal clubs, scientific paper and poster presentations, and publications in national & international journals. They are taught Basic Sciences, Bioengineering, and Bio Statistics. During the clinical training program, they have to diagnose and manage 45 personal cases and 20 transferred cases.

Candidates should have completed a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from any college or university recognised by the Dental Council of India (DCI) or the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS). They should have secured qualifying marks in NEET MDS.
