Master of Surgery (MS) in Ophthalmology is a 3-year postgraduate clinical program that deals with the medical and surgical concepts of the Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology of the human eye. Students gain advanced knowledge of Ocular Anatomy, Physiology, Optics, Genetics, and Practical Ophthalmic Science. The program encourages students to participate in community eye screening camps, school children screening camps and intercollegiate academic programmes as part of their curriculum. They are given practical training on skill transfer and surgical training. The post graduate syllabus mandates the students to attend regular clinics, seminars, journal clubs, mortality meets, and interdepartmental meets. Post graduates are directed to teach the undergraduate students. They also carry out research works for dissertation in their final year of graduation.

The candidates should have completed MBBS or done their Postgraduate Diploma from any recognized medical college or university and passed the qualifying examination with 55% or above aggregate marks. They should have appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post Graduate Examination (NEET PG) and obtained the minimum cut-off percentile to specialize in Ophthalmology.
