The University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), also known as GKVK Agriculture University, was established in 1963. It was the first state agricultural university in Karnataka. UAS, Bangalore, was inaugurated by Dr. Zakir Hussain, the Vice President of India, on August 21st, 1964. The GKVK campus was inaugurated on July 12th, 1969, by the then Prime Minister of India.

To expand agricultural education, UAS, Bangalore, ensured a broad geographic spread of its teaching, research, and many more in different regions covering ten districts of Karnataka. It offers admission to various programs offered at UG, PG, and Doctorate levels. It offers three undergraduate degree programs, 23 Postgraduate programs and 16 Doctoral Degree programs for eligible candidates. The University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, fees for all Agricultural Courses are affordable by students belonging to all sections of the society.

UAS, Bangalore, aims to make agricultural education responsive to the growing and changing needs of society. It envisions establishing a dynamic agricultural system education to train highly skilled and competent manpower addressing various challenges in the field.

University of Agricultural Sciences Campuses:

The Agriculture University is located in Bangalore. It is connected well by air, rail, and road transport. The University of Agricultural Science (UAS) Bangalore campus is located on the Bangalore-Hyderabad National Highway. The university headquarters are at Gandhi Krishi Vignana Kendra, popularly known as GKVK Campus.

Laboratory:

The University has a well-equipped specialized laboratory for research purposes. It is equipped with sophisticated equipment to carry out both fundamental and applied research in Agricultural Sciences. It has a common instrumentation room accessible for both faculty and students. The laboratory has adequate equipment to research in its field.

Crop Museum:

The central crop museum was established at Hebbal campus in 1040 sq meters. Apart from the museum, there is also a botanical garden at the GKVK campus that is spread across 25 hectares with a Herbarium and greenhouse.
