The International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore, is popularly known as IIITB. It is a Deemed-to-be-University established in the year 1999. It was set up with a vision to contribute to the IT industry by focusing on research, education, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
IIITB is a registered non-for-profit society funded jointly by the Government of Karnataka and the IT industry. With its unique mode of academics, research, and industry interaction, IIITB has grown to become an institute of considerable repute in academic and corporate circles.
IIIT Bangalore works in partnership with multiple corporate sectors while retaining the freedom of an academic institute. In 2005, it was recognized as a Deemed-to-be-University by UGC. It takes inspiration from other renowned institutions and strives to emulate the education culture on par with the best international institutions.
With more than 20 years of experience in providing quality education, IIIT has consistently been at the forefront of IT education and innovation. It follows a broad academic philosophy with a 3-tier approach to program and teaching. The main campus is a 9-acre campus located in Electronic City, the heart of the Bangalore IT Industry. There are 5 main buildings with well-planned Innovative centres, academic blocks, laboratories, classrooms, playgrounds, library, cafeteria, hostels, medical rooms, and multipurpose halls. IIIT has around 90,000 sq ft of air-conditioned space. It also has a 900-seater auditorium cum conference complex to meet the growing infrastructural needs.
The IIITB Deemed-to-be-University provides on-campus hostel facilities for both boys and girls. The IIITB campus is located in Electronic City. It is regarded to be a home away from home for all the candidates coming from across the country and abroad.
The campus is fully-residential and has two blocks for both girls and boys. The girl’s hostel blocks are called Lilavati, and the boy’s hostels are called Bhaskara and Visveshwara. Lilavati holds around 254 fully-furnished single occupancy rooms. Bhaskara and Visveshwara have 754 private rooms and 76 sharing rooms. The hostels have 24/7 security, and all the rooms are equipped with Wifi.
IIIT supports the overall development of the students and prepares them for the future. Along with promoting the best education, it promotes fitness for the enthusiasts. It has a well-equipped gymnasium and jogging track of 1 km. The campus also has state-of-art sports facilities for Basketball, Badminton, Cricket, Football, Tennis, Table Tennis, and Volleyball.
IIIT Bangalore has a spacious and well-stocked library. It has regularly been updated with the latest journals and newsletters. Candidates can access the library from 9.30 AM to 11:00 PM every day.
The university believes that healthy nutrition is needed for all-around performance. Thus, it has an in-house cafeteria with menus offering nutritious and wholesome food, ensuring a well-balanced diet. It offers both North Indian and South Indian delights cuisines and also has exclusive cuisines for Jain candidates. The menu is curated every month by the food committee. IIITB also houses a bakery and beverage stalls for students’ cravings.

Candidates applying for the program must have completed a 4-year BE/ B.Tech or equivalent program from a recognized institute or university. They must have pursued CSE/ CE/ IT/ IS/ ECE with 65% aggregate marks in the qualifying exam.
Aspirants must have completed a Bachelor's Degree from any discipline (Arts, Science, Commerce, Design, Management, Law, Engineering, or any other) from any recognized institute or board. Candidates must have appeared and qualified in CAT/ CEED/ CUCET/ TISSNET.

Candidates applying for the PhD program must have passed a Master’s Degree or equivalent with relevant specialization from a recognized institute or board. Applicants must appear and qualify for national entrance exams such as GATE/ GRE/ CSIR-UGC NET/ UGC-NET/ JEST/ JRF/ GMAT. Furthermore, candidates must appear for the entrance exam conducted by the university, followed by an interview.

The Deemed-to-be-University offers admissions for multiple Integrated, Postgraduate, Doctoral and Research programs.
Given below is the IIIT Bangalore admission procedure to be followed by the aspiring candidates:
Utkashara Scholarship Scheme is offered by IIITB for the merit candidates joining the Integrated M.Tech program. This scholarship will provide a 100% waiver on the tuition fee for the top 5 candidates who have scored rank (ranging from 1-999) in JEE Main exam.
The scholarship scheme covers the tuition fee for all 5-years. Once the scholarship is awarded to a specific candidate, it won’t be transferable to other applicants even if the scholar drops from the program. The tuition fee for the first year is based on JEE Main rank. For the scholarship to continue for subsequent years, candidates must maintain a CGPA of 3.6 or above (on a 4-point scale).
IIITB scholarship is offered for only 8-meritorious scholars wishing to join the M.Tech program. This scholarship covers the student’s expenses throughout their M.Tech in the institute. In addition to IIITB scholarships, all the GATE qualified candidates will be eligible for fellowships by AICTE as per its norms.
Scholarships will be made available for up to 20 M.Sc admitted students as per the Institute’s policy. The scholarship amount is expected to be Rs. 12,400 per month from the year 2021. The students can also expect a stipend of Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 25,000 per month during the last six months of the programme while working on their internship or the thesis.
A fellowship of Rs. 20,000 per month is available for the full-time M.Sc Research candidates. Full-time PhD candidates will be offered a fellowship of Rs. 38,500/- per month till completion of Comprehensive Exam. After completion of the Comprehensive Exam, Rs. 43,500 per month is offered for a maximum period of 3 years.
Since its inception, the university has been attracting students from all over India and abroad. It has a history of producing high-quality PG engineers every year. IIIT offers placement and internship facilities for all eligible and desiring candidates. It cherishes the work ethic, transparent, informal, and culturally rich working environment for its students. A total of 543 students were offered multiple careers, internships, and higher education opportunities. About 267 candidates was offered internship opportunities, 238 full time offers, 17 candidates as Full Time Employees (FTE) and 21 candidates with Higher education offers. Around 4 M.Sc (Digital Society) candidates were hired as FTE with the highest salary package of 16 LPA and an average salary of 9.1 LPA.
