The Karnataka Folklore University, also called Karnataka Janapada Vishwavidyalaya, is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the rural setting of Haveri, Karnataka.
The university is officially recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
The University was established on December 29th, 2011 by Dr VS Acharya, the then Higher Education Minister for Karnataka. It is the only institute that has been providing advanced teaching, learning, and research opportunities for the students in folklore.
Karnataka Folklore University, Haveri commits to excel in translating its vision and mission into reality. It has promoted and respected the cultures of rural agricultural communities, farmers, farm labourers, shramikas, dalits, nomads, etc.
The library at Karnataka Folklore University, Haveri is called G Shampa Library and was established in 2012. The University Library is regarded as one of the liveliest places on the campus that provides a safe and comfortable learning environment. It enables the advancement of knowledge that promotes discovery and scholarship.

Karnataka Folklore University applying candidates must have completed their 10+2 education in any given stream with english as a compulsory subject. They must score a minimum of 60% and clear the minimum cut-off score for the institute entrance exam.
Candidates must have completed Class 12th from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English as mandatory subjects. The candidates must have scored a minimum aggregate mark of 60% in class 10th and 12th.

MPA applicants at Karnataka Folklore University should complete their bachelor’s degree from a recognised institute. They must have scored a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. Candidates with 5 years of practical experience in theatre or a reputed dance institute can also apply.
The MVA applying candidates must have obtained at least 50% aggregate marks in their qualifying bachelor’s degree examination. In addition, they can apply to only that specialization in which they have done a bachelor’s degree.
Applicants for Karnataka Folklore University must have completed a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program from a recognized college with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks. Students from Humanities/ Social Science/ Science/ Management and other backgrounds are also eligible.

Karnataka Folklore University admission is a detailed procedure for all the courses offered by the university. The application fees for the general category candidates for the university admission procedure is Rs. 300.
1. The application procedure begins in July.
2. Candidates are required to fulfil the eligibility criteria for each course as required by the university.
3. Admission to all the courses is done based on their scores obtained by the candidates in the qualifying examination.
4. The candidates who have appeared for the UG exam and are waiting for the results can also apply. However, they are expected to submit their statement of marks immediately to the university after obtaining it from the online portal.
5. NRIs and foreign applicants have to go through a separate Karnataka Folklore University admission process as prescribed by the institute.
6. MBA applicants must appear for the entrance examination conducted by the university.
7. The candidates applying for more than one course must send multiple application forms for all the courses.
1. The University offers both online and offline modes of application for the candidates.
2. The duly filled application form is required to be sent along with the DD amount of Rs. 300 for General Category candidates and Rs. 150 for the Reserved Category candidates.
3. The filled Karnataka Folklore University Admission fees must be submitted in favour of the Finance Officer of the University with the stamp fee of Rs. 60.
