Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Paediatrics is a clinical speciality course dealing with the medical care of infants, children and adolescents. The students are trained in understanding the health needs of newborn babies to 18-year old adults. They also learn about the nutritional and feeding practices to be adopted by young parents. Postgraduate students are required to attend regular seminars, case discussions, classes on drugs & equipment and journal clubs. They have to do one dissertation under the guidance of an eligible guide. Some of the subjects taught include Neonatology, Renal Disorders, Behavioural & Developmental Disorders, Gastrointestinal & Liver Diseases, etc.

The candidates should have completed MBBS or done their Postgraduate Diploma from any recognized medical college or university and passed the qualifying examination with 55% or above aggregate marks. They should have appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post Graduate Examination (NEET PG) and obtained the minimum cut-off percentile to specialize in Paediatrics.
