The primary goal of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Forensic Medicine course is to impart medico-legal knowledge of Forensic Science to the students. By the end of the course period, they become experts in the legal and ethical aspects of Forensic Science such as narco-analysis, brain mapping and polygraphy. They are trained to write medico-legal reports and give expert witness statements in front of the judiciary. The course content includes General Principles of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, Medical Ethics & Law, Clinical Forensic Medicine, Forensic Pathology, Toxicology, etc.

The candidates should have completed MBBS or done their Postgraduate Diploma from any recognized medical college or university and passed the qualifying examination with 55% or above aggregate marks. They should have appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post Graduate Examination (NEET PG) and obtained the minimum cut-off percentile to specialize in Forensic Medicine.
