Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Physics is a 3-year Doctoral program offered by the CMR Institute of Technology (CMRIT). The program is divided into three parts, namely, Part I - Coursework, Part II - Comprehensive Viva Voice, Part III - Synopsis Submission, Thesis Submission, and Defense. The students are required to undertake a course on Research Methodology prescribed by the University, which includes quantitative methods and computer applications. The curriculum covers topics such as Quantum Optics and Laser Physics, Matter Physics, Solid State Physics, Materials Science, High Energy Physics, Nonlinear Optics, and Electronic Science.

The candidate must hold a Master’s Degree in Engineering/ Technology from CMR University or any other institutes recognized by the University with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in Master’s Degree.
