What is CSIR UGC NET?

CSIR UGC NET or CSIR NET is a national-level exam conducted for candidates interested in Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or Assistant Lectureship. Candidates eligible for Assistant Lectureship through CSIR UGC NET can work at UGC recognised institutions in India.

For fellowship aspirants, the following are the qualifying institutions who can hire CSIR NET exam qualified JRFs:

Eligibility & Registration

Candidates have to meet the following eligibility criteria to apply for CSIR NET:

  • Candidates should complete any of the following courses to be eligible for the exams:

- Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech)

- Bachelor of Engineering (BE)

- Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm)

- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)

- Integrated Bachelor of Science (B.Sc)

- Master of Science (M.Sc)

  • General and OBC candidates have to pass any one of the above-mentioned courses with an aggregate of 55%, while SC, ST, and PwD candidates have to complete the course with an aggregate of 50%.
  • Candidates must be an Indian citizen.
  • The maximum age to apply for JRF is 28. There is no maximum age limit to apply for the post of Assistant Lecturer.
