Overview

Allied Health or Paramedical Professionals are non-physician-non-nursing healthcare providers whose main task is to deliver health and allied services to the patients. It's both a direct and support role that includes a broad range of practices and services.

Allied Health Science is divided into bachelor's and master's programmes. There are 22 undergraduate programmes and 10 postgraduate specialisations to choose from. All these courses are offered in both government and private medical colleges as well as independent colleges.

UG Courses:
Bachelor of Science in Medical Lab Technology (BMLT)

achelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology is a 3.5 years undergraduate programme. This includes three years of classroom studies and six months of internship. The programme deals with identifying and diagnosing diseases with the help of clinical laboratory tests by collecting a wide variety of samples from the body.

Admissions are based on the marks scored in pre-university/+12 or equivalent in science. The students must have studied and passed physics, chemistry, biology as subjects and English as one of the languages.

Students with vocational higher secondary education with physics, chemistry, biology, and English conducted by Kerala Government are also eligible for admission to allied health sciences colleges in Bangalore.

Bachelor of Optometry (B.Optom)

Bachelor of Optometry (B.Sc. in Optometry in some universities) is a four-year programme including three years of academics and one year of internship designed to help students learn the basics of vision care. They are trained to prescribe eyeglasses or contact lenses.

Admissions are based on the marks scored in pre-university/+12 or equivalent in science. The students must have studied and passed physics, chemistry, biology as subjects and English as one of the languages.

Bachelor of Medical Record Sciences (B.M.R.S.)

Bachelor of Medical Record Sciences is a 3.5-year undergraduate programme that deals with keeping and maintaining medical records at hospitals and clinics.

Admissions are based on the marks scored in pre-university/+12 or equivalent in science. The students must have studied and passed physics, chemistry, biology as subjects and English as one of the languages.

Students with vocational higher secondary education with physics, chemistry, biology, and English conducted by Kerala Government are also eligible for admission to allied health sciences colleges in Bangalore.

Bachelor in Hospital Administration (BHA)

Bachelor in Hospital Administration is a 3-year undergraduate programme that is aimed at preparing healthcare professionals that can take care of the hospital's administration like patient care, invoicing, admissions and discharge, interacting between patients and doctors, dealing with authorities, and more.

Admissions are based on the marks scored in pre-university/+12 or equivalent in science. The students must have studied and passed physics, chemistry, biology as subjects and English as one of the languages.

Students with vocational higher secondary education with physics, chemistry, biology, and English conducted by Kerala Government are also eligible for admission to allied health sciences colleges in Bangalore.

Lateral admission to this programme is open to students with an appropriate diploma from a recognised government board.

Bachelor of Science in Operation Theatre Technology

Bachelor of Science in Operation Theatre Technology is a 3.5-year undergraduate programme that deals with the management of operation theatre. The programme includes three-years of classroom coaching and six months of internship. The professional learns to disinfect and sterilise surgical instruments, make operation bed, prepare medications, anaesthetic gases, and important medications.

Bachelor of Science in Cardiac Care Technology

Bachelor of Science in Cardiac Care Technology is a 3-year full-time undergraduate programme that deals with measuring and functioning of the heart as well as assisting the doctor during invasive cardiovascular testing.

Bachelor of Science in Perfusion Technology

Bachelor of Science in Perfusion Technology is a 3-year programme that deals with the study of the body and equipment used to check the body. The specialists also operate heart-lung machines and other equipment.

Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience Technology

Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience Technology is a 3-year undergraduate programme that deals with performing diagnostic testing procedures like EEG, EP, PSG, NCS, and ENG with or without the presence of a physician.

Bachelor of Science in Renal Dialysis Technology

Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care Technology

Bachelor of Science in Anaesthesia Technology
