Overview

Occupational Therapists (OTs) are healthcare professionals who work on the patients' functional ability to fullfill their daily routines. Generally, OTs are trained on psychological, emotional, physical and social aspects. They are also trained on treating the body, related to neurological, physiological and anatomical concepts. Occupational Therapists work in a variety of fields, including Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Neurology, and Geriatrics

Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT)

Bachelor of Occupational Therapy or BOT as it’s known is a 4.5 years undergraduate programme. This includes eight semesters of academic preparations and six months of internship.

Admissions are based on the marks scored in pre-university/+12 or equivalent in science. The students must have studied and passed physics, chemistry, biology as subjects and English as one of the languages. Those that have passed B.Sc. with either of these two subjects- physics, chemistry, biology (Botany, Zoology) too can study BOT.

As of now, there’s no qualifying exam for admission to BOT programme at any of RGUHS affiliated medical colleges in Bangalore, however that might change in the future. Please check our website for updated information on the qualifying exam for BOT.

Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT)

Master of occupational Therapy is a two-year higher postgraduate degree in occupational therapy. The eligibility is 50% or higher in Bachelor of Occupational Therapy from a RGUHS recognised university. It has about seven specialisations.

Master of Occupational Therapy in Orthopaedics is a two-year postgraduate programme that provides advanced training in the evaluation and treatment of patients with orthopaedic conditions, either from birth or caused by accident or illness.

Master of Occupational Therapy in Psychiatry

Master of Occupational Therapy in Psychiatry is a two-year postgraduate programme that deals with diagnosing and treating mental health issues that affect a person’s occupational performance.

Master of Occupational Therapy in Community Rehabilitation

Master of Occupational Therapy in Community Rehabilitation is a two-year postgraduate non-clinical programme. The specialists learn to help the community to engage in an occupation for gainful lives.

Master of Occupational Therapy in Neurology

Master of Occupational Therapy in Neurology is a two-year postgraduate programme designed to deepen the knowledge and skills of students in neurological occupational therapy practice.

Master of Occupational Therapy in Paediatrics

Master of Occupational Therapy in Paediatrics specialists help children with impairments caused by congenital, neurological, or chronic degenerative illnesses helping them develop these abilities.
