GNM or General Nursing and Midwifery course is a 3.5 years Diploma program in the field of Paramedics. Students are required to undertake an internship for the duration of 6 months. General Nursing and Midwifery course mainly focus on the parameters of care to individuals, society and families.
A candidate who is given a degree of GNM Nursing Diploma is a registered nurse and has a nursing licence. This course provides knowledge about dealing with the sick and elderly. It also provides special training on how to take care of a pregnant woman. GNM subjects aim to produce qualified nurses who can be an active part of the medical community.
The admission procedure for the GNM program depends on a college. Many colleges require the candidates to fill up the admission form online. Most of the institutions take direct admission on the basis of 10+2 examination results, with special importance to marks obtained in science subjects. Other universities and colleges conduct special entrance exams for admission to this course.
The GNM Nursing course may vary from university to university. But the overall approach remains the same. Students are trained to have a clinical approach of handling patients.
